Antecedents of coopetition in small and medium-sized hospitality firms

Coopetition, which is entering cooperation with competitors, lets firms overcome the challenges of uncertain environments and their intense competition pressure to innovate. The hospitality industry frequently experiences this kind competition. It also dominated by family-run small medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), are inclined towards due limited size resources, along strong social ties. Investigating SMEs’ decision-making, mixed-method study tests antecedents coopetition in 171 SMEs western Austria. Its findings show that economic benefits destination networks directly positively influence coopetition, while family involvement indirectly moderates effect environmental conditions relationships on coopetition. Information from follow-up interviews 15 firm managers complements understanding these effects. Our encourage destinations establish services helping coopete.
